FILM MAKING 1.0

After being given the brief of creating a theoretical promotional video for MissGuided we brainstormed notes and storyboards to ensure we made full use of the 2 hours to film and 2 hours to edit
Creating a promotional
video
1.
2.
The output for this task was a 20-second video that we edited in iMovie. whilst filming we shot short clips from each location including clips and phone footage that fits with the 'millennial' target consumer. we all took on roles for this shoot which ultimately helped us get more footage than we needed, also by having rigid time restrictions, this helped us to stay on top of our work load and which locations of manchester to hit in which order.
in reflection of this task i feel that we would have all benefitted for the future to swap roles throughout the day, as personally, i have little knowledge of using a DSLR camera apart from for personal use, however, i then practiced these skills in the development task.
i felt that as a group we communicated well and complied to time constraints even in roles we are not familiar with such as me modeling. another aspect that i feel helped us to stick to missguided's 'vibe' is that the brand has a large social media presence which meant that each member of our team had seen a piece of promotional content from them either intentionally or not.

in terms of why did i create these videos, i feel that it allowed me to explore basic editing whilst working to a goal: to promote a piece of clothing, and to ensure the garment is the focus whilst keeping the rest of the content interesting.
if i were to complete these developments again, i would
create concept boards prior and work towards a specific brand which would give me more direction, and create a more tailored video.
AS DEVELOPMENT FROM THE MISSGUIDED VIDEO I CREATED TWO SHORT VIDEOS BASED AROUND 2 SEPERATE MODELS WEARING 2 DIFFERENT OUTFITS, THIS ALLOWED ME AND RACHEL TO PRACTISE PHOTOGRAPHING AND VIDEOING EACH OTHER AND SUBSEQUENTLY EDITING THE VIDEOS TO OUR OWN PERSONAL STYLES.
AS THESE ARE THE FIRST TWO VIDEOS I HAVE EDITED independently, I TOOK ON A DIFFERENT APPROACH WITH EACH, THE FIRST (TO THE LEFT) I ATTEMPTED A MORE SLICK VIDEO WITH SMOOTHER TRANSITIONS THAT FIT TO A MORE 'TYPICAL' PROMOTIONAL VIDEO FOR A COMMERCIAL VIDEO AND THE SECOND (ABOVE)
I ATTEMPTED A MORE 'HOME-STYLE' VIDEO THAT COULD BE USED FOR A MORE INDEPENDENT BRAND WITH SHORT CHOPPY CLIPS AND ROUGH TRANSITIONS, IN CONCLUSION, I PREFER THE SECOND STYLE OF VIDEO THAT IS MORE 'ROUGH'
